The bubonic plague epidemics bare no resemblance to what we are seeing today.

Not in people’s reaction.

Not in the socio-cultural context.

Not in the means of transmission.

Not in it’s effects.

Not in it’s mortality.

Not in the best way to prevent it.

This is like trying to view the Iraq war through the prism’s of Saladin’s siege on Jerusalem or the trade war between the US and China through the prism of the east indie company’s economic strategy in Indonesia.

This article is now a small part of the reason why the whole “those who don’t learn history are bound to repeat it” saying doesn’t hold any sway in the modern world.
