The reason why people can’t find meaning is well exemplified by this article.

People can’t accept that some things are hard in life but still worth pursuing, so they chose inactivity and blame their ills on a bogymen, such as “the capitalist swine”, “the corrupt government”,”the deep state”,”that asshole Steve”… you name it.

Doing anything meaningful must be, by it’s very definition, extremely hard. Otherwise it wouldn’t be meaningful. That’s the one lesson people can’t internalize, they try to avoid hardship at any cost, then they realize their lives have no meaning and find a someone or something to blame.
