This is just… what sources did you read on the topic of global or at least European pandemics ?
If no, let me give you a list by mortality from the 20th century:
HIV/AIDS ~ number hard to determine, but most sources would probably place it between 5 and 30 million dead
Influenza A virus subtype H2N2 (aka Asian flu)~2 million dead
Encephalitis lethargica ~1.5 million dead
Influenza A virus subtype H3N2 (aka Hong Kong flu) ~1.5 million dead
Chinese Bubonic plague ~ 1 million dead
Smallpox ~ killing betwen 1–20 million people EVERY YEAR, up until 1977 (estimates place it at half a billion between 1877 and 1977)
<Keep in mind these numbers are in proportion of a much smaller global population, to scale them up to today’s population you’d have to multiply by at least two>
Heck, in the 21st century we had:
PH1N1/09 virus (aka swine flu)— with CDC estimates between 100,000 and 500,000 dead. Whereas coronavirus has yet to break 100,000, it’s arguable whether or not it will reach this level, I think there’s an argument to be made, but it’s certainly going to be closer to this than the bubonic plague (which basically killed half of Europe)
These are all pandemics more deadly than covid-19, in the last 100 years, when we actually have data and an environment resembling our modern world… rather than feudal Europe, which is one of the least documented periods in European history.
But If I am allowed to take the swath of history between us and the first major European pandemic of bubonic plague (discounting the plague of Justinian and other such ancient pandemics):
- The diseases bought in South America by Spanish conquistadors (killing over half the continents population)… these include but aren’t limited to smallpox and syphilis
- The diseases bought by the French and English in North America (number vary, but again, placing it at over half the native population isn’t that crazy)… again, these include but aren’t limited to smallpox and syphilis
- The various cholera pandemics in Europe
… you see my point ?
If you make statements like that while lacking information, YOU ARE LYING.
If the truth is 1 minute of searching away, and you chose to ignore it in order to fit you narrative or rationalize your bullshit, that falls within the definition of a lie.
I’d suggest you read history, but you should really brush up on your ethics first dude.
